Will I really learn as much as in a traditional classroom?
Online and hybrid courses have the same academic rigor and relevance as traditional courses. Some are offered in variable-week formats. Traditional sixteen (16) week classes are often condensed to eight (8) weeks when offered as an online or hybrid course. The same amount of academic preparation and work is required for eight week online and hybrid courses as it is for sixteen (16) week, traditional on-campus courses. Students are expected to provide meaningful contributions in their online and/or hybrid courses five out of seven days per week and spend 15 to 20 hours weekly for each e-Learning course.
Are these virtual classes easier than traditional classes?
No. Virtual classes sometimes seem more intense because the traditional 16 week term is accelerated into an 8 week term. Students are expected to provide meaningful contributions in their online and/or hybrid courses five out of seven days per week and spend 15 to 20 hours weekly for each e-Learning course. Sometimes people come into an online class thinking that this will be like a "correspondence course". Nothing could be further from the truth. Online classes require a tremendous amount of interaction among students and between students and faculty -- more so, in fact, than in the traditional classroom. In a virtual classroom, the instructor knows you are there through your participation.
How are tests given for online courses?
Most online tests have a time limit for completion. However, some courses require proctored testing by your instructor, at Macomb's Learning Center, or another test center .

Yes, however, it is best that you own a computer. Students are expected to provide meaningful contributions in online and/or hybrid courses five out of seven days per week and spend 15 to 20 hours weekly for each e-Learning course. The library allows time-limited access to the internet and computer labs are available on both campuses.
