Health Requirements

  • Titers to determine immunity to communicable diseases (Rubella, Rubeola, Mumps, Varicella and Hepatitis B)
  • Hepatitis B vaccine
  • TB test or Chest X-ray

CPR Certification

  • Students need to complete a CPR course: Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers and need to maintain certification for the duration of the time they are completing clinical training. (Certification may be obtained by taking PHED-2750)

Criminal Background Check

  • Macomb Community College's clinical partners may not accept students who have been convicted of certain crimes into a clinical learning environment.  Therefore, students must undergo a Criminal Background Check conducted by Macomb Community College Police in order to be considered for admission to the Nursing Program.  The Criminal Background Check will be conducted at no charge to the student.  The Michigan Board of Nursing may deny an RN license to an applicant who has been convicted of a crime.  See the Nursing Selective Admission Application for specific information.

ACE Passport

  • All students enrolled in the MCC Nursing Program are required to participate in the Alliance for Clinical Experience (ACE) online learning and rotation certification management system.   The ACE PASSPORT system consists of three on-line learning modules and accompanying tests.  The modules are HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Ace), and Bloodborne Pathogens.  ACE PASSPORT on-line modules must be completed and passed within a designated 30 day time frame that finishes one week prior to the student's start of nursing courses.  The learning modules must be repeated yearly.

Transportation, Uniforms and Supplies

  • Students are responsible for all transportation and parking fees to clinical agencies, uniforms and supplies which include: stethoscope, bandage scissors, identification badge, watch with second hand, and pen light flashlight.
