Automotive Technology programs offered at Macomb Community College include:
Automotive Technology Program (Open Admission)
Students can start with the skills specific certificate, which only takes 1-2 semesters to complete and build towards a program certificate or an Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Technology. Course work is offered in all specialty areas of passenger cars and light trucks, including: Drive lines, engine, brakes and suspension, electrical and air-conditioning systems, driveability and diagnosis. Classes are offered during the daytime, afternoon, or evening to suit your needs.
CAT - Comprehensive Automotive Training
CAT - Comprehensive Automotive Training - is a 1-year high intensity accelerated automotive program, combining classroom and hands on training. macomb Community College has worked with partners such as the Automotive Service Association (ASA) and the Detroit Area Dealer Association (DADA) to establish the CAT program.
Students successfully completing CAT will have the technical skills and expanded lab experience to accurately diagnose, repair, and maintain modern automotive systems.
CAT graduates will have earned over 50 credit hours, which can be applied towards the completion of an Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Technology.
GM-ASEP - General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program
This twenty-month program is designed to produce highly trained technicians who can service and maintain the sophisticated electronic and mechanical systems and other advanced components being included in all new General Motors products.
GM-ASEP students at Macomb must seek and obtain sponsorship from a General Motors dealership. As a cooperative educational experience, students will spend a portion of their course time in automotive technical classes and in the sponsoring dealerhips gaining paid, real-world work experience.
