Multicultural / Diversity Series

The following staff development workshops are open to all faculty and staff and will qualify for CEU credit towards the MMII Cultural Competency certificate. If you have questions on any of the workshops, you may contact Lesley Lambright at lambrightl@macomb.edu.

Strategies for Handling the Disruptive Student

Learn techniques and strategies for dealing with the disruptive student.  Topics include the Macomb Student Code of Conduct, behavioral warning signs that may be the cause for concern, and when and how to make an appropriate counseling referral.

LGBT 101
Joshua Moore, Victim Advocate, Triangle Foundation

This interactive workshop is designed to sensitize faculty and staff to issues facing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered students and staff.  A major focus of the session will be a discussion of the issues facing Macomb students and staff based on feedback from LGBT students and staff at Macomb.  The session will begin with an overview of LGBT terminology.  We will explore the history of the triangle and Stonewall and discuss hot topics in Michigan including marriage issues, discrimination in housing and employment, and hate crimes.
