The Office of Articulation and Transfer acts as a liaison between the various Student Service Offices within Macomb Community College and our external university and college partners. This office gathers and disseminates the essential information necessary for students and their academic advisers to do efficient and effective transfer planning. It also facilitates interaction between Macomb College faculty and their college/university colleagues at other colleges and universities. Our key functions include the following:
We ascertain and provide transfer information for Macomb staff and students beginning at the course level. The information gathered allows us to demonstrate:
- How Macomb courses compare with courses at other colleges and universities
- How these courses are applied toward bachelor degree completion
- How our transferable courses may be grouped to formulate a transfer plan of study for a specific major and transfer destination
Building on the course equivalency information gathered, we collaborate internally and externally on the development and monitoring of academic plans of study that students, in turn, use to accomplish their transfer and baccalaureate degree completion. These plans of study are of three varieties:
- Plans that do not result in an associate degree from Macomb Community College, but simply guide students in the selection of courses for their intended major and transfer college or university
- Plans that include completion of a transfer specific associate degree like the Associate of Arts or Science or the Associate of Baccalaureate Studies
- Plans that are the result of an “Articulation Agreement” that link completion of a career or technical associate degree program with completion of a complementary baccalaureate degree program
Some of the activities sponsored by the Office of Articulation and Transfer for the benefit of our professional staff and our students include:
- Senior College Update Programs: Each Fall and Winter term Macomb’s advisors and counselors benefit from in-service presentations by our key transfer partners
- The Macomb Area College Fair: This event provides students and staff with direct access to college and university representatives and the information that they can provide concerning topics like: Transfer Admission, Baccalaureate Programs, Academic Support Services, Campus Housing, Financial Aid and the like
- Individual College and University Recruitment Visits: Each Fall and Winter term college and university representatives schedule recruitment visits to the Center and the South campuses. Students and staff have the opportunity for one on one access to resolve their transfer questions and concerns
- E-Mail Problem Solving: Students who have transfer or articulation related issues and concerns can seek our assistance by contacting us at transfer@macomb.edu
