FAQs

Answers to Placement Testing's most popular inquiries.

What are the hours of operation?
Our normal hours of operation are Monday and Tuesday from 9am till 6pm and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am till 3pm. You may be seated for the test during these hours, and a proctor will be available till the time your exam is completed.
Do I need an appointment?
No appointments are necessary; students are served on a walk-in basis. During the busiest months of the year (June, July and August) you may wish to report to the Placement Office shortly before it opens in the morning to get your name on a waiting list for that day of testing.
Is there a fee for taking the test?
There is no charge for Placement Testing for new students of Macomb College. There is a $25 fee for testing services for students who are taking the test for a College other than Macomb.
Do I have to take the placement test if I have already taken it at another college?
If you have COMPASS scores from other Colleges that use the same version of COMPASS as Macomb, and can have an official copy of them mailed or faxed to the Placement Testing office, those scores can be used in lieu of retesting. Macomb College uses ONLY the COMPASS score for placement purposes.
