STUDENT STILL IN HOME COUNTRY

Basic steps to obtain an F-1 student visa if you are still in your home country:

  • Take the TOEFL test and have your scores sent to us. If your score qualifies you for admission to Macomb you can proceed with the paperwork.
  • Fill out and return to us all the forms you print from the checklist.
  • When we receive the forms we can create your I-20 form and mail it to you to sign.
  • Once you have the I-20, you must pay the SEVIS fee, either online or at the Embassy. If approved, they will stamp your I-20 and you can travel to the U.S. on that visa. You cannot arrive in the U.S. until 30 days before the start of your program on the I-20.  Visit information on Traveling to the U.S. for more information.
  • When you arrive, come to Macomb College to finish the paperwork and take the compass placement test and register for classes.
