Macomb Community College recognizes the importance of secondary and postsecondary institutions working together to provide a comprehensive program of academic assistance for all students. The following programs are available for the public and private schools of the county.
WorkKeys: This ACT product identifies required skills for effective performance in most jobs and may lead to the state’s Career Readiness Certificate. These skills include:
- Applied Mathematics
- Locating Information
- Reading for Information
- Writing
WorkKeys can help identify deficiencies in these areas and provide curricular recommendations for improvement. WorkKeys is also being used as an alternate for students in qualifying for the Michigan Merit Award of $2500.
PLATO Learning System: PLATO Learning, the industry’s foremost expert in secondary instructional technology, offering the most comprehensive library of rigorous, interactive content and assessments, is available to secondary schools in Macomb County. We believe that PLATO is a learning tool that can help all high school students, from credit recovery to college and career prep. In 2007, students in Macomb County logged more than 16,800 hours working on PLATO courseware. Educators and High School Students wanting to learn more about PLATO Learning, please visit their website at www.plato.com, or contact Secondary School Outreach at stantone@macomb.edu.

COMPASS: COMPASS is the computerized placement and diagnostic assessment tool that assists students with their course selection. Macomb would like to provide COMPASS to interested districts to allow students an opportunity to evaluate areas for improvement while still in high school.
