DISCOVER THE POSSIBILITIES (AT-RISK STUDENTS)

The purpose of this program is to create a bridge to college and career awareness for a specific student population - The At-Risk student.

In partnership with the Michigan Department of Career Development, Michigan Rehabilitation Services, Macomb has offered a program for at-risk high school students in the county. Last year’s program included students from 15 different high schools, each having the opportunity to

  • identify their career interests
  • observe actual college classes
  • set realistic goals for career options
  • discuss college readiness strategies
  • learn about various college resources for at-risk students

These programs are available at no cost to your school. For the 2006-2007 school year, Macomb conducted eight sessions for a total of 121 at-risk high school students.
