The Veterinary Technician Curriculum is designed to prepare the student to assist with the technical aspects of a modern Veterinary practice and animal related fields, including: medical laboratory procedures, anesthesia, radiology, and surgical assisting. Major emphasis is on dogs and cats, although instruction will also be given on large animal and laboratory animal techniques. Students are also instructed to develop their skills with people, so as to relate to the owners of animals.

To be considered for admission to the Veterinary Technician Program, applicants are required to complete all Selective Admissions requirements. Macomb’s Selective Admission Programs have assessment and admission requirements that are considerably different than other Macomb programs. It is highly recommended that students attend a Selective Admission Seminar prior to placement testing.
