MISSION STATEMENT

 

The mission of the Veterinary Technician Program at Macomb Community College is to train students to become exceptional veterinary technicians with Outstanding Technical Skills and Outstanding People Skills.  Our goal is to provide qualified and compassionate veterinary technicians for companion animal practice.

 

Statement Of Organizational Goals and Purposes

 

The Macomb Community College Veterinary Technician Program will maintain high standards for knowledge and performance, provide rigorous academic and practical training in veterinary technology, and provide graduate veterinary technicians with outstanding skills.  Our focus will be to:

  1. Teach an attitude of personal student ownership of their education.
  2. Teach an attitude of excellence.
  3. Teach an attitude of teamwork.
  4. Teach an attitude of professionalism.
  5. Promote ethical behavior.
  6. Teach the difference between fundamentals (principles) and techniques.
  7. Teach client education principles wherever applicable.
  8. Teach preventative health principles wherever applicable.
  9. Teach a respect for owners, as well as their animals.
  10. Teach technical skills with all the latest technology and techniques of modern veterinary practices.
  11. Prepare students for the veterinary technician licensing examination given upon graduation.
  12. Instill a desire for Lifelong learning.
