Students are encouraged to become student members of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).  www.aama-ntl.org

 

Student Organization of Medical Assistants (SOMA)

The name of the organization is Student Organization of Medical Assistants (SOMA).

The purpose of this organization shall be to promote the MCC Medical Assistant Program and advance the profession further by encouraging participation in Local, State, and National organizations of the Medical Assistant.  The club members meet periodically to plan and participate in activities such as community service, professional development, as well as fundraising activities.   

 

Honor Society: Phi Theta Kappa

Phi Theta Kappa is the national honor society for students attending community and other two-year colleges, Phi Theta Kappa combines scholarship, leadership and citizenship activities to provide a comprehensive and rewarding learning experience for its members.  To join Phi Theta Kappa, you must have completed at least 12 hours of course work leading to an Associate Degree (part-time students are eligible) and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

 

Alpha Upsilon Xi is the chapter at Center Campus and Alpha Rho Rho is the chapter at South Campus. Members are involved in many activities at Macomb as well as joint activities with other chapters around the state.
