CCENT  New certification program – Winter 2009

Overview

The Cisco CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician) certification validates the skills required for entry-level network support positions, the starting point for many successful careers in networking. Candidates should have the knowledge and skill to install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network, including basic network security. CCENT certification is the first step toward achieving CCNA, which covers medium size enterprise branch networks with more complex connections.

The CCENT is primarily designed for Cisco® Networking Academy® students who are looking for career-oriented, information and communication technology (ICT) skills instruction or a quick path to job entry and career exploration.

Preparedness

The first two courses in Macomb Community College’s CCNA Discovery curriculum (ITNC 1030 and ITNC 1040) provide the student with the skills to pass the CCENT™ certification exam for entry network technicians. In addition the student can continue their training by electing to take ITNC 1100, ITNC 2000, and ITNC 2100. With these additional courses the student will now be prepare to sit for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.

Curriculum Description

This curriculum presents basic networking education to equip students with knowledge and skills that can be applied toward entry-level ICT careers and also CCENT and CCNA certifications. Macomb’s CCENT 1 and CCENT 2 are a blended curriculum with both online and classroom learning.
