Macomb Community College is pleased to be developing Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) courses for the automotive service industry to support the increasing number of HEVs on the road. Toyota recently announced they will produce over 400,000 HEVs for the US in 2006 and Ford, GM, and Daimler Chrysler are increasing their production as well. These courses will be of interest and specifically geared toward existing automotive students as well as technicians already employed in the field.

Through a grant from the National Science Foundation, Macomb and Wayne State University are collaborating on the development of HEV courses. These courses will provide technicians with the essential information and training to safely and properly service HEVs and include:

• Hybrid Electrical Vehicle Fundamentals (AUTO-1440)
• Hybrid Electric Vehicle Powertrain and Controls (AUTO-2440)
