GRANT ENDING

The Department of Labor Grant program at MCC will officially end on June 30, 2013.  In receiving this $4.9 million grant from the Department of Labor, Macomb Community College provided training to better position unemployed workers, under-employed workers, dislocated workers and veterans for jobs in southeast Michigan.

The grant is ending on a very successful note.  MCC had a goal to assist 1,267 participants gain employment which we reached and exceeded in April!  We provided 2,509 individuals with additional skills and support.  Based on the wage data from employed individuals willing to share this information, the average hourly pay of $15 per hour has a regional economic impact in excess of $41 million on an annual basis.  We are proud to have been a part of such a worthwhile endeavor.

We hope you will consider continuing your education at Macomb Community College.  You may be eligible for additional federal funding which you can discover by completing your FAFSA application at fafsa.gov. Also, please watch Macomb’s website for new opportunities that may arise.

If you continue to need job search assistance there are a number of avenues you can pursue, including MCC Career Services.  Check them out at www.macomb.edu/careerservices.

It has truly been a privilege to work on this grant.  We wish you success in all your future endeavors!
