Macomb Gains Top Spot In MCCAA East
The Macomb Volleyball Team has stands alone atop the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Eastern Conference for the first time this year. The Monarchs improved their conference record to 4-0 with a four game win over previously unbeaten St. Clair Community College.
The Monarchs victory was spearheaded by a group of freshman. Jessica Rombach tallied 18 kills and 5 blocks while, "Making several key plays at the net either shutting down St. Clair's big hitters with a block or getting airborne to collect a kill." adds head coach Teri Szur.
In addition to Rombachs stellar performance, fellow freshman Stephnie Pietrzak (11 kills, 8 digs), Katelyn Cosio (10 kills) and Christina Seward (40 assists) helped pace the Monarch attack.
Szur added, sophomore Jessica James (17 digs), "Was a true leader on the court as the libero." She continued, "Her overall play was a real factor in our success."
Macomb will travel to Mott Community College on Thursday, September 18, befor returning home to face Schoolcraft Colleg on September 24.
Three Monarchs Continue Career With Wayne State
Three members of Macomb's Regional Championship team will finish their academic and playing careers at Wayne State University.

2008 Season Schedule Released
The 2007-08 Volleyball schedule has been released. The Monarchs will look to defend their MCCAA and Regional crowns from last season
First year head coach Terri Szur has been looking to add a lot of local talent to a team that will return two players from last seasons veteran team.
Macomb will open their season at the Grand Rapids Tournament where they will face several of the Regions top teams. The first home contest will be on Saturday, September 6th, when the Monarchs will host the inaugural Monarch Tournament.
All home games are played at the Macomb Sports & Expo Center on South Campus.
