Holly Plieth- Head Coach
Holly Plieth begins her second season as the head coach at Macomb College. As a first year head coach she led the Monarchs to a second place finish, in conference, with an 11-
3 record. The Monarchs also made appearances in the MCCAA tournament and NJCAA regionals.
Before being named the Head Coach, Holly was an assistant for five years here at Macomb. Charged with the task of training setters, she had an immediate impact. Under her tutelage, setter Christina Seward (Class of ’10) finished fourth in the nation in assists per set. Her responsibilities also included recruiting, scouting, practice plans for camps, and organizing the Macomb Juniors (www.macombjuniors.com) club program.
Plieth was a four year varsity player at Warren Cousino High School in volleyball, basketball, and softball. While at Cousino she earned All-League, All-Macomb, and All-Region Honors. Upon graduation, she played here at Macomb where she led the team in blocks. She completed her playing career at Wayne State University.
Prior to beginning her coaching career at Macomb she accrued experience at Lake Shore High School where she was the youngest Varsity Coach ever in the state of Michigan at 19 years of age. She also has extensive club experience with American Athlete/Mizuno (USA Michigan Volleyball Club), where she served as a Junior and Youth Master Coach and the Oakland County Regional Training Center Coordinator. Coach Plieth also worked as a Court Coach for USA Volleyball with their High Performance Girls Youth Program. She has over 15 years of coaching experience at the college and high school levels throughout Macomb and Oakland County.
Plieth holds USAV Cap 1 Coaching Accreditation and possesses several memberships within USAV, AAU, and AVCA organizations.
Plieth is married and has two step-daughters (Kennedy and Jillian) with her husband Jim.
Nancy Filipek- Assistant Coach
Nancy Filipek is entering her second season as assistant coach with the Macomb volleyball program.
With her as part of the 2010 staff the Monarchs finished second in the MCCAA Eastern Conference.
Filipek comes to Macomb from the American Athlete/ Mizuno (USA Michigan Volleyball Club) where she served as the Oakland County Youth Master Coach and the Oakland County R.T.C. Manager. Filipek has over 15 years of coaching experience throughout Macomb and Oakland County.
Filipek holds a USAV Cap 1 Coaching Accreditation Certification. She also holds certification as a Double Goal Coach, and several memberships within AAU, USAV, and the AVCA organizations.
In 2010, Filipek had her first opportunity to serve as an assistant coach for the USAV Girls Volleyball High Performance Program in Colorado.
In 2011 she served as an assistant coach for the Lakeshore Region High Performance Youth Team traveling to compete in the USAV High Performance Championships in Tucson Arizona. The team brought home the bronze medal in the National Gold division. It was the first time any team from the Lakeshore Region had medaled at the High Performance Championships.

Filipek and her husband of 29 years, Bud Filipek, currently reside in Washington, Mi. They have two daughters, both graduates of Oakland University.
