MONARCHS SWEEP ANCILLA
The Macomb baseball team improved to 5-7 in the MCCAA and 11-17 overall following a pair of wins against Ancilla College. The Monarchs were led by another great start from Joe McLaren, who threw a complete game one-hitter while striking out four. McLaren has thrown shut-outs in all of his last three starts, pitching 20 innings over that span.
The Monarchs won game one 8-0 behind the brilliance on the mound by McLaren. Dalton Boslooper led the team at the plate, going 2-3 on the game with a run and three RBI. Justin Kersten went 1-4 on the game, but did have a two-run double and scored a run.
The second game of the day was much closer, but Vince Siwicki had a great game on the mound, leading Macomb to the victory. Siwicki gave up one run on three hits over seven innings, while striking out an astonishing 14 batters. Travis Fenner, Mike Newcomb, and Blaise Woods each had two hits for the Monarchs.
MONARCHS SWEEP HENRY FORD
The Macomb baseball team improved to 9-17 overall and 3-7 in the MCCAA following a 5-0 and 14-2 sweep of Henry Ford CC. Justin Kersten had four hit on the day, with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
Joe McLaren followed up his no-hit performance from the week prior with a six inning, no run performance. McLaren allowed three hits and one walk, but struck out 10 batters. Derrik Berriman relieved McLaren and gave up one hit while striking out two to preserve the shutout. Blake Buckner had a nice game for the Monarchs reaching base twice and picking up two RBI.
The Monarchs came out on fire in game two, scoring 12 runs in the first inning. Andrew Busch had three hits, with three RBI and three runs. Mike Newcomb and Blake Smith each had two hits for Macomb. Vince Siwicki was sharp on the mound, going four innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on one hit and four walks, while striking out four.
The Monarchs return home to host Ancilla on Saturday, April 13th and Glen Oaks on Sunday, April 14th with both games scheduled to start at 1 pm at the Sports & Expo Center.
MCLAREN NO-HITTER HIGHLIGHTS WEEKEND
The Macomb baseball team lost three of four games over the weekend, splitting a pair of games with Kalamazoo Valley, before dropping a pair of games to Lake Michigan CC. The highlight of the games was a no-hitter thrown by Joe McLaren in the first game against KVCC. It was the 12th no-hitter in Macomb’s history, and the first since a combined no-hitter by Steve Vautour and Nick Tomeczak in 1994.
The Monarchs started the weekend with a victory over Kalamazoo Valley with the McLaren no-hitter. On the offensive end, Mike Newcomb had two of Macomb’s five hits and reached base three times. Andrew Busch had the lone RBI in the game.
The second game did not go as weel, as Macomb lost to KVCC 12-7. Newcomb had another two hits for Macomb, with three RBI. Justin Kersten and Dylan Cooper each had two hits and two runs for the Monarchs.
The Macomb bats could not heat up in the first game against Lake Michigan, which resulted in a 3-2 defeat. Aaron Solomon started for Macomb, going 4.2 innings, giving up three runs, two earned off seven hits and four walks. Derrik Berriman did not allow a base runner in relief of Solomon. Newcomb had his third straight two hit game for Macomb, while also picking up two RBI.
Macomb could not the big hit in a 10 inning 8-3 loss in the second game of the day. Lake Michigan scored five runs in the top of the 10th to break the game open. Kersten, Travis Fenner, and Dalton Boslooper each had two hits for Macomb.
MONARCH BATS COME ALIVE AT CONCORDIA
The Macomb baseball team traveled to Ann Arbor for a pair of non-conference games against Concordia University. The Monarchs swept the games 14-4 and 22-6 to improve to 6-14 on the season. One of the many Monarchs who had a nice day at the plate was Tyler Vaughan, who went 7-8 at the plate with a double, four runs and five RBI.
Tyler Kain picked up his second win of the season in game one, giving up one run over three innings off of two hits and one walk. Timo DeYoung went 3-5 for the game, with two doubles, one run, and three RBI. Mike Newcomb and Blake Smith each had two RBI for the Monarchs.
The Macomb bats stayed hot in game two, as the Monarchs scored 22 runs in the second game of the day. Andrew Busch went 2-5 for the game, with two runs scored, and six RBI, four of which came on a grand slam. Blaise Woods went 3-4 for Macomb with three runs and two RBI. Dominic Valente picked up his first win of his collegiate career, giving up three earned runs over three innings.
The Monarchs return home to host Kalamazoo Valley CC in an important MCCAA contest on Thursday, April 4th at 2 pm at the Sports & Expo Center.
MACOMB OPENS CONFERENCE SEASON 0-4
The Macomb baseball team has opened the MCCAA season 0-4 dropping a pair of game to St. Clair CCC and Muskegon CC. The Monarchs lost 4-1 and 3-2 to St. Clair CCC and 5-4 and 8-3 to Muskegon CC. Mike Newcomb was 5-12 over the four games with three stolen bases.
Macomb only got four hits in the first game against the Skippers. Joe McLaren started the game, going five innings, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out six. Pat Dulapa had a hit and a RBI for the Monarchs.
The Monarch bats continued to struggle in the second game of the day, as Newcomb had two of the teams five total hits. Vince Siwicki had a nice game on the mound, giving up three runs on four hits and five walks over six innings while striking out 10. Blake Buckner got the lone RBI for Macomb.
Two days later, Macomb traveled to Muskegon, but had the same fate against the Jayhawks. Justin Kersten had two hits in the first game of the day with an RBI and a run scored. Blaise Woods went 1-3 on the day with a two run double. Aaron Solomon started the game, going five innings, giving up five runs on seven hits and one walk.
Andrew Busch had two hits, including a two-run home run, in game two, but it was not enough as Macomb fell 8-3. Blake Smith had a solo home run for the Monarchs. Aaron Cameron started for Macomb, giving up five earned runs over three innings, giving up six hits and three walks.
The Monarchs travel to Concordia for a double-header on Tuesday April 2nd at 2 pm.
MONARCHS SPLIT IN VIRGINIA
The Macomb baseball team improved to 4-10 on the season by splitting two games in Virginia over the weekend. The Monarchs lost the first game 8-7 before winning the second game 5-2 against Rappahannock CC.
The Monarchs blew a 6-0 lead in game one, allowing Rappahannock to get a run in the fourth, three in the fifth and four in the sixth. Only three of the eight runs that Macomb pitching gave up were earned. Vince Siwicki got a no decision after giving up four runs, three earned in four innings pitch. Nick Ciaramitaro pitched two innings in relief, giving up four runs, all unearned. Dylan Cooper had a strong day at the plate, going 2-3, with two runs, three RBI, and a walk. Pat Dulapa also had two hits for Macomb with an RBI.
Aaron Solomon pitched a gem in his first game of the season, going six innings, giving up two runs on three hits and one walk. Justin Kersten went 2-3 on the game, with two runs and a RBI. Cooper and Justin LaForest each had a hit and a RBI for the Monarchs.
MONARCHS FINISH 3-9 ON SPRING TRIP
The Macomb baseball team finished their spring break trip in Florida and South Carolina with a 3-9 overall record. The team finished the trip on a good note, going 2-1 in Myrtle Beach.
The Monarchs defeated Jamestown CC 6-0 in the first game on the weekend. Macomb won the game behind only four hits, but the team did get seven walks. Justin Kersten went 1-3 with a double. Travis Fenner scored two runs for Macomb on four walks. Tyler Kain picked up the win, pitching five innings, giving up no runs on one hit and five walks. Derrik Berriman picked up the save, pitching two innings, giving up one walk and no hits.
The Monarchs second game on the weekend was a 3-2 victory over John Wood CC. Blaise Woods had three hits and a run scored. Dalton Boslooper picked up two hits for Macomb. Daniel Krueger won the game for the Maonarchs with a walk-off single in the 10th inning. Vince Siwicki started the game, and pitched seven innings, giving up no runs on four hits and three walks, while striking out seven. Nick Ciaramitaro got the win, giving up two earned runs over three innings.
Macomb lost the last game of the weekend, 10-5 to Genessee CC. Kersten went 2-4 for Macomb with two runs and two RBI. Woods went 1-5 on the game, but hit a two-run home run for Macomb. Dominic Valente started for the Monarchs, going 3.2 innings, giving up five runs, one earned, on five hits and three walks.
MACOMB WINS FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON
The Macomb baseball team won their first game of the season to improve to 1-8 on the season. The Monarchs lost a nine inning game against Pasco-Hernando 15-3 on March 6th. On March 7th, Macomb split a double-header with Webber International Univ. with a 5-4 victory and a 8-0 defeat.
The Monarchs struggled against Pasco-Hernando CC, managing only six hits and three runs in the nine inning game. Dan Krueger led the Macomb hitters, going 1-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Justin Kersten, Dylan Cooper, Blake Smith, Jacob Bowden, and Tyler Vaughan all picked up hits for Macomb.
Macomb picked up their first win of the season, in the first game of a double-header against Webber International 5-4. Aaron Cameron had a very strong start, going 6 innings, giving up one earned run on five hits and three walks. Dalton Boslooper had a nice game at the plate, going 3-4 with a run scored and a RBI. Cooper picked up his first win at Macomb, pitching one inning, giving up an unearned run on one hit and one walk. Derrik Berriman registered the save, giving up one walk and no hits in one inning of work.
The Monarchs lost the second game of the day, despite Travis Fenner reaching base three times on two hits and one walk. Boslooper started game two, giving up four earned runs on seven hits and two walks over three innings. Richard Borland pitched well for the Monarchs in relief, giving up no earned runs over three innings.
MONARCHS STRUGGLE AGAINST COLLEGE OF CENTRAL FLORIDA
The Macomb baseball team fell to 0-6 on the season with two losses against College of Central Florida with scores of 17-2 and 7-5. Mike Newcomb was a bright spot for the Monarchs, going 4-6 with two runs scored on the day.
The Monarchs hit the ball well in game one, with eight hits, but only scoring two runs on the game. Starter Marc Fick struggled, going 3.2 innings, giving up seven earned runs off of nine hits and three walks. Pat Dulapa reached base three times for Macomb, going 2-2 with a walk.
Macomb played much better in game two, despite the loss. Tyler Kain started and gave up one earned run over two innings, giving up one hit and three walks. Justin Kersten, Dylan Cooper, and Blake Buckner each had two hits for the Monarchs, including two RBI from Cooper.
MONARCHS START 0-4 IN FLORIDA
The Macomb baseball team has started the season 0-4 in Florida. The Monarchs lost the first double-header to Seminole St. 3-2 and 7-0. The following day, Macomb lost both games to Pasco-Hernando CC 3-2 and 15-12.
Seminole St. started the season ranked #5 in the NJCAA Division I rankings, and were tested by the Division II Monarchs. Vince Siwicki pitched well for the Monarchs in game 1, going four innings, giving up two hits and one walk, and no earned runs. Macomb only picked up three hits on the game, but did manage two runs.
The Monarchs struggled in game two, losing 7-0. Dalton Boslooper started the game, going three innings giving up two earned runs on four hits and one walk. Andrew Busch went 2-3 on the game.
On March 3rd, Macomb lost both games to Pasco-Hernando CC. Joe McLaren pitched well in game one, giving no earned runs, while only giving up one hit. Derrik Berriman also pitched well in relief, going four innings, giving up two earned runs on six hits, while striking out four. Patrick Dulapa went 1-4 for Macomb with two RBI.
Both teams bats came alive in game two, as Macomb lost 15-12. Dylan Cooper went 3-5 for Macomb. Mike Newcomb went 2-5 from the plate, with two RBI and three runs. Daniel Krueger went 2-3 with two runs and a RBI. Busch hit well again, with two hits.

Macomb Community College Men’s Baseball Coach Joe Santilli has signed another player to a Letter of Intent for the Fall 2012-2013.

Pegues played varsity baseball at Urusuline High School under Coach Sean Durkin for three years. He is an outfielder, who hit .377 with 18 runs, three doubles, two triples, eight stolen bases, and 10 RBI. Pegues is playing this summer with the Youngstown Express.

MONARCHS FINISH SECOND IN REGION XII TOURNAMENT
The Macomb baseball team finished second of the NJCAA Region XII Tournament. The Monarchs dropped two games to Grand Rapids CC in the championships games on Monday afternoon by scores of 13-0 and 6-5 in 10 innings. Michael Clutterbuck, Stu Eisler, and Nathan Hammer were all named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Monarchs started the weekend by beating Glen Oaks 12-1. Clutterbuck picked up the win after pitching six innings, giving up no runs and only one hit and one walk. Miguel Mendez went 1-3 with a three-run home run. Hammer and Eisler each had two hits for Macomb.
The Macomb offense stayed hot on Saturday, picking up 13 hits in a 10-6 victory over Jackson CC. Eisler was 2-4 for the game with a home run and three RBI. Robert Walter picked up the win after going seven innings giving up six runs on eight hits.
The Monarchs advanced to the Region XII Championship game with a 15-3 win over Kellogg CC. Adam Paulk started the game, giving up three runs over four innings. Justin Zyvon went 3-5 with three runs scored, Hammer went 4-5 with four runs scored, and Eisler went 5-5 with five RBI and three runs to lead the Monarch offense.
The Macomb bats could not stay hot into Sunday, as Macomb lost the first game of the championship 13-0. Macomb was only able to get four hits off of Grand Rapids pitching. Joe McLaren started the game going seven innings giving up four earned runs off of 10 hits.
On the second game of the day, Macomb lost 6-5 in 10 innings. Macomb was able to come back from a three run deficit in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Grand Rapids scored a run in the top of the tenth to make the difference. Michael Clutterbuck, pitching on two days rest, went seven innings giving up no earned runs and only three hits. Justin Zyvon went 3-5 for Macomb with a run and a RBI.
MACOMB SWEEPS LAKE MICHIGAN
The Macomb baseball team finished the regular season with a sweep of Lake Michigan with scores of 11-2 and 10-2. The Monarchs finished second in the MCCAA with a 19-7 conference record and 34-15 overall.
Michael Clutterbuck picked up his sixth win of the season in the first game going five innings, giving up one earned run on three hits and three walks. The Monarchs started the game strong, scoring seven runs in the first three innings, to jump out to a 7-0 lead. Justin Zyvon went 3-3, with four runs, one RBI and two walks. Stu Eisler went 3-4 with two runs, two RBI, and two stolen bases.
Robert Walter started the second game of the day, going four innings, giving up one earned run off of two hits and three walks. Zyvon led the way again for Macomb, with another three hits, with two runs and three RBI. Nathan Hammer, Andrew Grabowski, and Eisler each had two hits and one run, with Hammer and Eisler knocking in two and Grabowski knocking in three.
The Monarchs travel to Battle Creek for the NJCAA Region XII tournament, the team’s first game is on Friday, May 11th at noon against either Jackson CC or Glen Oaks CC.
MACOMB QUALIFIES FOR REGIONALS WITH SWEEP
The Macomb baseball team qualified for the NJCAA Region XII Tournament in Battle Creek following a pair of victories over Jackson CC 2-1 and 10-4. The Monarchs are tied with Grand Rapids CC for second place in the MCCAA, one game behind Kellogg CC.
Andrew Kawam had a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Chase Schmittou for the 2-1 lead. Adam Paulk started the game, going six innings, giving up one unearned run off four hits, while striking out eight. Matt Klann picked up the win after pitching a hitless seventh.
The Monarch hitting came alive in the second game, scoring six runs in the first inning. Macomb stole 11 bases and had 10 hits for the game. Andrew Grabowski went 3-3 with two runs and two RBI. Justin Zyvon and James Horgan each had two hits for the Monarchs.
Macomb closes out the regular season on Saturday, May 5th at Lake Michigan CC in Benton Harbor at 1 pm.
MACOMB SPLITS WITH GRAND RAPIDS
The Macomb baseball team remained in a tie for second place in the MCCAA after splitting a pair of games with Grand Rapids CC. The Monarchs won the first game 5-4 before dropping the nightcap 7-5. Macomb has four games remaining to qualify for the NJCAA Region XII Tournament.
Michael Clutterbuck started the first game giving up four hits and one earned run over six innings to pick up a no decision. Michael Kruse scored the game winnings run on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning. Miguel Mendez went 2-4 with a double and two RBI. Terry Gissendanner hit an inside the park two-run home run.
Bobby Walter started game two, going 5.1 innings giving up eight hits and four earned runs. Nathan Hammer went 2-4 on the game with a double, a run and a RBI. Stuart Eisler capped off an amazing week reaching base three time with an RBI and a run. The Macomb defense struggled in the second game, with five errors.
Macomb hosts Jackson CC on Tuesday, May 1st at 3 pm in the final home game of the season.
MACOMB SPLITS WITH LANSING
The Macomb baseball team split a pair of games against Lansing CC on Thursday afternoon. The Monarchs dropped the first game 7-6 before defeating the Stars in the second game 17-11. Macomb is in a tie with Grand Rapids CC for second place in the MCCAA, one game behind Kellogg CC.
Ted Newhouser started the opener, giving up three earned runs over 4.2 innings. The Monarchs were leading 6-4 after four innings, but gave up three runs over the next two innings for the one run loss. James Horgan had two RBI for Macomb and Chase Schmittou scored two runs.
The bats heated up in game two, as seven players had at least two RBI. Miguel Mendez led the way, with two hits and three RBI. Nathan Hammer and Stu Eisler each had two hits and a home run for Macomb.
Macomb returns home to host Grand Rapids CC on Saturday, April 28th at 1 pm at the Sports & Expo Center.
MONARCHS SPLIT WITH MOTT
The Macomb baseball team fell to second place in the MCCAA after splitting a pair of games at Mott CC. Macomb won the first game 19-3 before dropping the second game 14-9.
Stuart Eisler had a tremendous game, going 3-4 with two home runs, including a grand slam, with three runs and seven RBI. Nathan Hammer was 2-3 for the Monarchs with three runs and four RBI. Adam Paulk picked up the win, starting the game, going three innings giving up four hits and one earned run. Eight Monarchs picked up at least one RBI.
Macomb dropped the second game 14-9 behind seven errors. Eisler had another strong game, going 2-4 with two RBI and a run. Joe McLaren struggled, pitching two innings, giving up six hits and five earned runs.
Macomb travels to Lansing, to take on Lansing CC on Thursday, April 26th at 2 pm in another big MCCAA match-up.
MONARCHS MOVE INTO SHARE OF FIRST
The Macomb baseball team improved to 27-12 overall and 12-4 in the MCCAA after a pair of victories over Kellogg CC. The Monarchs won the first game 2-0 and the second game 2-1. Macomb pitching was tremendous on the day, giving up one run and five hits over the two games.
Michael Clutterbuck improved on his 1.339 ERA, which was sixth in the NJCAA, with a complete game one-hit shutout. Stu Eisler led the offense, going 2-3 on the game, with a homerun and two RBI. Miguel Mendez, Terry Gissendanner, and Kyle Murphy were the other Monarchs to get hits on the game.
Bobby Walter started the second game, going all eight innings, giving up one run and four hits, picking up the win. Miguel Mendez tied the game in the bottom of the seventh innings, with a solo homerun and won the game with a bases loaded single in the eighth inning. Andrew Kawam scored the winning run after leading off the eighth inning with a double.
The Monarchs travel to Flint, to take on Mott CC on Tuesday, April 24th at 2 pm.
MACOMB BEATS OWENS
The Macomb baseball team defeated Owens CC 13-6 in a nine inning nonconference match-up. The monarchs are currently 25-12 overall and 10-4 in the MCCAA. The Monarchs out-hit Owens 12-9 for the game.
Aaron Solomon started the game for Macomb, going three innings, giving up three hits and one earned run. Aaron Cameron picked up the win, after giving up four earned runs over the next four innings. Justin Zyvon had three hits on the game, with three RBI and one run. Terry Gissendanner went 3-4 on the day with three RBI and two runs. Kyle Murphy went 2-3 with three runs.
The Monarchs host Kellogg CC on Saturday at 1 pm in a battle for first place in the MCCAA.
MONARCHS WIN TWO AGAINST DELTA
The Macomb baseball team improved to 10-4 and is tied for second place following two victories against Delta College. The Monarchs came back from a 7-0 deficit in game one, to win the game 8-7 and won game two 6-1.
The Monarch bats woke up just in time in the first game of the day. Macomb tied the game with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and scored one in the eighth to win the game 8-7. Terry Gissendanner had three hits for Macomb, with two RBI and a run. Andrew Grabowski had two hits, including a solo home run.

MONARCHS SWEEP KVCC, SPLIT WITH HENRY FORD
The Monarch baseball team traveled to Kalamazoo, for a pair of games against Kalamazoo Valley CC on Thursday. Macomb won both games with a 2-0 score. On Saturday, the team returned home and split a non-conference double-header against Henry Ford, winning the first game 4-1, and dropping the second game 4-3. Macomb is currently tied for first place in the MCCAA, with a 6-2 conference record.
Michael Clutterbuck pitched the opener against KVCC, going all seven innings giving up three hits and no runs to pick up his third win of the year. Stu Eisler went 2-3 for the game, with a run scored. Chase Schmittou went 1-3 with a run and a RBI.
Robert Walter picked up the win in the second game, going six innings, giving up three hits and no runs. Macomb only had three hits for the game, two of which came from Miguel Mendez, who also picked up an RBI.
Aaron Solomon picked up the win in the first game against Henry Ford, going five innings, giving up one hit and one walk and no earned runs. Blake Smith and Eisler each went 2-3 for Macomb. James Horgan was 1-2 at the plate, with a solo home run, his second of the season.
The Monarchs dropped the second game of the day 4-3. Aaron Cameron started the game, going four innings, giving up five hits and no earned runs. Terry Gissendanner went 2-4 for Macomb, with one run. Schmittou and Andrew Busch each had a RBI for the Monarchs.
The team travels to Dearborn to take on Henry Ford in a conference game at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 10th before returning home on Thursday for a non-conference game against Rochester College at 2 pm.
MACOMB SWEEPS ROCHESTER COLLEGE
The Macomb baseball team traveled to Rochester College to play a pair of non-conference games. Macomb won the first game 12-0 and the second game 6-0. The Monarchs out-hit Rochester 16 to one over the two games.
Ted Newhouser started the first game, going four innings, giving up one hit and no runs, while striking out seven. Andrew Busch and Kyle Murphy each had two hits and a run for the Monarchs. Macomb picked up 13 walks off of Rochester pitching. Eleven different Monarchs scored runs in the game, and eight different players picked up at least one RBI for Macomb.
Graham Tebbit started the second game for Macomb, going six innings giving up no runs and only one hit, while striking out seven. Busch and Chase Schmittou each had two hits for Macomb. James Horgan went 1-3 on the game with a two-run home run. The Monarchs improve to 15-9 on the year, and are tied for fourth place at 4-2 in conference play.
The Monarchs travel to Kalamazoo Valley CC for two conference games on Thursday, April 5th before returning home to play Henry Ford CC on Saturday, April 7th at 1 pm.
MONARCHS WIN TWO AGAINST MUSKEGON
The Macomb baseball team swept a double header against visiting Muskegon CC with a pair of 2-1 games on Saturday afternoon. Pitching led the way for Macomb as Mike Clutterbuck got the win in the first game going eight innings, giving up three hits and one unearned run while recording 10 strikeouts. Robert Walter won the second game, pitching six innings giving up one hit and no runs with five strikeouts.
Both teams struggled at the plate in both games. Andrew Busch went 3-4 in game one including a single in the eighth innings to score Stu Eisler for the victory. Miguel Mendez had two hits and a run in the game. Eisler went 1-3 with an RBI and the winning run.
The second game was much of the same. Macomb scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and held on for the victory. Eisler and Chase Schmittou each went 2-3 for the game with a run scored. Dan Saier gave up a run in his inning of work, but still picked up his fourth save of the season. Saier is the school’s all-time save leader.
The Monarchs travel to Rochester College for games on Tuesday, April 3rd before returning home on Saturday, April 7th for games against Henry Ford CC.
MACOMB BEATS OWENS 7-3
The Macomb baseball team traveled to Toledo, OH for a nine inning game against Owens CC. The Monarchs won the game 7-3 behind a strong start from Aaron Solomon. Miguel Mendez led the team at the plate going 2-4 with a run scored.
The Monarchs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Macomb added two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to take a 7-1 lead after six innings. Solomon picked up the win after giving up one run over four innings or work giving up two hits and recording four strikeouts. Keith Paslean recorded the last five outs for Macomb, giving up one hit and striking out four. Andrew Busch went 1-2 in the game with an RBI double and a run scored.
Macomb returns home to play Muskegon CC at 1 pm on Saturday, March 31st.
MONARCHS SWEEP SKIPPERS
The Macomb baseball team swept two games against visiting St. Clair CCC on Tuesday evening. The Monarchs won a pair of one run games in the walk-off variety. In the first game, Stu Eisler hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 11th inning to score Kyle Murphy for the winning run. In the second game, Andrew Busch hit a walk-off single scoring Justin Zyvon in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Adam Paulk started the first game, going six innings, giving up one run and five hits, while recording six strikeouts. Matt Klann pitched four hitless innings to pick up the win. Nathan Hammer and Zyvon each had a pair of hits for the Monarchs to pace the 4-3 victory.
Macomb won the second game 3-2, with Graham Tebbit picking up the win after pitching two scoreless innings. Joe McLaren started the game, going five innings, giving up two unearned runs while picking up six strikeouts. Busch had a great game at the plate, going 3-3 with a walk and the game-winning RBI. Zyvon again had two hits, with a run and a RBI as well.

MACOMB LOSES TWO CLOSE GAMES
The Macomb baseball team traveled to Centreville to take on Glen Oaks CC. The Monarchs lost both games by scores of 2-1 and 4-3. Michael Clutterbuck pitched the first game, picking up the loss despite going six innings, allowing one earned run, four hits and one walk. Robert Walter started the second game, giving up three earned runs over six innings.
The Monarchs only could muster two hits in the first game, one by Justin Zyvon and one by Andrew Kawam. Macomb only had five base runners for the entire game and could only manufacture one run.
The second game, the Monarchs bats warmed up, but it was not enough for the victory. Miguel Mendez had two hits, with a RBI and a run for Macomb. The Monarchs battled to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning, but Glen Oaks responded with a run in the bottom to end the game.
MONARCHS SWEEP SINCLAIR CC
The Macomb baseball team traveled to Xenia, OH for a pair of games against Sinclair CC. The Monarchs swept the games with scores of 4-1 and 11-0. The pitching for Macomb led the way as Adam Paulk started the first game going 5.1 innings, giving up one run while recording five strikeouts. Joe McLaren started the second game, giving up two hits and no runs in five innings of work.
Terry Gissendanner had two hits with an RBI and a run. Blake Smith had two hits for the Monarchs. Daniel Saier pitched a scoreless seventh to pick up his third save of the season.
The Monarch bats were led by Justin Zyvon in the second game. Zyvon had two hits, with two runs and two RBI. Kyle Murphy had went 3-4 with a run and a RBI. Nathan Hammer had two hits with a run and two RBI.
The Monarchs next game is at Glen Oaks CC in Centreville, MI at 1 pm on March 24th.
BASEBALL FINISHES 4-6 in FLORIDA
The Macomb baseball team traveled to Florida for 10 games during Spring Break. The Monarchs finished 4-6 on the trip. Macomb was led by Stu Eisler, who is hitting .319 with six doubles, seven RBI, and eight runs.
Robert Walter pitched nine innings on the trip, giving up one earned run with 10 strikeouts and nine walks. Michael Clutterbuck pitched 9.1 innings giving up four earned runs with seven strikeouts. Joe McLaren pitched eight innings giving up three earned runs, while picking up two wins.
The Monarchs bats were led by Nathan Hammer, who had seven hits on the trip, including a four hit, seven RBI game against Weber International University. Chase Schmittou hit .320 for the trip with five runs.
The Monarchs return home and play Sinclair CC in Xenia, OH on March 20th at 3 pm.
BASEBALL GOES 2-1 IN VIRGINIA
The Macomb baseball team traveled to Virginia for the All Seasons NJCAA Baseball Event at the Virginia Sports Complex. Macomb was led by Andrew Grabowski, who hit .333, with four RBI, four runs, and a home run.
The Monarchs won their first game against Garrett College 6-5 in 10 innings. Bobby Walter started the game, throwing three no hit innings, with four strike-outs. Chase Schmittou went 1-2, with a run, RBI, and two walks. Aaron Solomon picked up the win.
Macomb dropped their second game 3-1 to Guilford Tech CC. Adam Paulk started the game, throwing three innings, giving up three hits, and two earned runs, with four strike-outs. James Horgan went 1-3, with an RBI.
The Monarchs won their final game of the weekend 10-5 against Chesapeake College. Graham Tebbit started and picked up his first win of the season, going three innings giving up three earned runs off of three hits and five walks. Grabowski went 2-3 for the game, with a home run and a double, scoring three runs and knocking in four RBI.
Macomb travels to Florida over spring break for their annual trip, where they will be playing eight games over the week.

Macomb Community College Men’s Baseball Coach Joe Santilli has signed another player to a Letter of Intent for the Fall 2011-2012.
Aaron Solomon – Armada H.S.
Solomon played varsity baseball at Armada High School
under Coach Jeff Jackson. He is a right handed pitcher, who on the season has a 0.78 ERA with 55 strikeouts over 45 innings. At the plate, Solomon hit .468, with 16 runs, two home runs, and 12 RBI. In 2009 and 2010, Solomon received All-District, All-Area, and All-County honors. He will play this summer with the Michigan Mustangs.

Nathan played varsity baseball at Stevenson High School under Coach Joe Emanuele. Rodriguez is an infielder, who as a junior, hit over .300 with 16 runs and 10 RBI. He will play this summer with the Sterling Heights Titans under Coach Dave Cooper.
Keith played varsity baseball at Oxford High School under Coach Jeff Willis. Paslean is a right-handed pitcher, who has recorded seven wins with a 1.54 ERA for the season. He will play this summer with the Michigan Dawgs under Coach Dick Schoenberg.
MONARCHS FALTER IN REGION XII TOURNAMENT
The Macomb Community College men’s baseball team traveled to Battle Creek this past weekend for the Region XII baseball tournament. The Monarchs won their first game of the tournament before falter in their next two.
The Monarchs started out on a positive note defeating Jackson CC 12-4. In the semifinals, Macomb was defeated by Muskegon CC 1-0. The Macomb bats never came alive, as they could only generate two hits for the game. Muskegon CC scored their only run in the first inning and only had three hits for the game. Andy Orr and Arthur Coppola were the two Monarchs with hits for the game.
After the defeat, Macomb had to play Grand Rapids CC in the quarterfinals on the loser’s bracket. The Monarchs were defeated 9-7, to bring their season to an end. The Monarchs battled back from a 7-3 deficit, to tie the game at 7-7 in the seventh inning, but couldn’t hold Grand Rapids in the inning. Ryan Bourcier went 1-3, with a run and three RBI. Orr had two hits and two RBI.
BASEBALL ENDS REGULAR SEASON WITH SIX STRAIGHT
With the sophomores playing in their final home games, The Macomb Community College baseball team defeated Lake Michigan 3-0 and 12-5 to finish the regular season on a six game winning streak and in second place in the MCCAA. Andy Orr had three hits on the day, with two walks, two runs, and two RBI.
Robert Walter started the first game, pitching six innings, giving up three hits and no runs to pick up the win. The Monarchs scored three runs on only four hits in the game. Orr went 2-2 with a RBI and a walk.
The bats came alive the second game, scoring twelve runs in the game. Tommy Moore picked up the win giving up four runs over four innings. Nick Tomilenko went 2-4 in the game with a stolen base and two runs. Andrew Grabowski and Brian Mazurek each had a run and three RBI.
Macomb’s next game is on Friday, May 13th at 12:30 pm in Battle Creek against Jackson in the Region XII Tournament.

The Macomb Community College baseball team traveled to Muskegon on Sunday and won both games with scores of 7-2 and 11-7. Ryan Bourcier went 4-7 with two runs and two RBI.
The Monarchs started the first game strong with five runs in the first inning and two in the second to take a 7-0 lead. Stuart Eisler went 1-2 with a two-run home run. Michael Clutterbuck started the game and pitched a complete game, giving up only one earned run.
The Macomb bats were even better in the nightcap as they scored runs in each of the first five innings. Bourcier and Andy Orr each had one run and two RBI for the game. James Kyewski picked up the win giving up three runs over five innings.

The Macomb Community College baseball team lost two games on Saturday afternoon, by scores of 12-2 and 10-5. Miguel Mendez went 2-4 on the day, with two runs, two RBI, two walks, and a stolen base.
The Monarch bats never got started in the first game, only garnering four hits. Mendez had two hits in the game, with two RBI. Taylor Turczyn started the game, giving up four hits and four runs over two innings. The Monarchs were only trailing by two runs going into the bottom of the fourth innings, where they gave up three runs, followed by five runs in the fifth inning.
The bats came alive in the second game scoring five runs, but it was not enough as a five run fourth inning dooms Macomb. Andrew Grabowski went 2-3 for the game with an RBI, while Brian Pesta went 1-3 with a run and two RBI. Joel Lange started the game, giving up three runs (one earned), and three hits, while striking out four over two innings.
BASEBALL SWEEPS ANCILLA
The Macomb Community College men’s baseball team swept Ancilla on Sunday 3-2 and 8-3, in two cold and very windy games. Nick Tomilenko went 2-4 on the day with a home run, three runs, two RBI, and four stolen bases.
Robert Walter started the first game by throwing four perfect innings to pick up his third win of the year. Andrew Kawam had a two run double in the fourth to give the Monarchs a three run lead that they would hold on to. Tomilenko was 1-1 on the game with three stolen bases.
Stuart Eisler led the team in the night-cap getting on base three times, with one run and a RBI. James Kyewski had a quality start, giving up three runs over six innings, including five K’s and five walks. Tomilenko had two hits, with a home run, two runs and two RBI.
Macomb next plays on Tuesday, April 19th at 4:30 pm in Port Huron against St. Clair CCC.

Macomb started the first game strong, scoring a run in the first inning, but it was the only run they would score all game. The Monarchs only got two hits and two walks for the game. Henry Ford scored three runs on the game behind three hits and four walks. James Kyewski started for Macomb, pitching five innings and giving up three runs on three hits, with four walks.
The Monarch bats came alive the second game to beat Henry Ford 8-2. Adam Paulk started the game, going six innings, giving up two runs on six hits to pick up the win. Orr was 3-4 for the game with a homerun and two RBI. Justin Zyvon went 3-3 for the game with a run scored.
Macomb next plays on Thursday, April 14th at 2 pm against Jackson CC at the Sports & Expo Center.

MONARCHS UNDEFEATED ON WEST SIDE SWING
The Macomb Community College men’s baseball team went 4-0 on the road this week recording wins against Kalamazoo Valley and Grand Rapids. The wins against KVCC were with scores of 13-2 and 2-1, while they beat Grand Rapids 1-0 and 8-2. All four starting pitchers picked up the wins in their respective games.
The sweep of Kalamazoo Valley was lead by Robert Walter giving up two runs (one earned) over five innings. Adam Paulk started the second game, giving up one run (zero earned) over six innings. Andy Orr was 5-5 on the day with a walk, including four RBI and two runs. Daniel Saier picked up his fifth save of the season in the second game.
Two days later, Macomb traveled to Grand Rapids for two more games. Again pitching was the story as Michael Clutterbuck pitched eight scoreless innings to pick up the win, while Saier picked up his sixth save of the season. Tommy Moore pitched the second game, giving up two runs over seven innings. Ryan Bourcier was 4-8 on the day, picking up the game-winnings RBI in the first game. Stuart Eisler was 3-7 on the day, with two RBI and a run.
Macomb next travels to Dearborn to play Henry Ford CC on April 12th at 2 pm.
BASEBALL SWEEPS DELTA
The Macomb Community College men’s baseball team swept Delta CC with scores of 10-0 and 7-0. The Monarchs gave up five hits over the two games, including a combined one hitter in the first game.
Stellar pitching led the Monarchs the first game, started by Thomas Moore, who struck out all six batters he faced. Michael Clutterbuck relieved Moore and pitched two innings giving up no hits, while recording three strikeouts. Six Monarchs knocked runs in for the game, led by Andy Orr’s two RBI.
The second game was much of the same for Macomb with the 7-0 victory. Ted Newhouser started the game for the Monarchs giving up two hits over three innings, while recording five strikeouts. Brian Pesta went 1-3 with 2 RBI and Brandon D’Agnese went 1-1 with two runs.
Macomb travels to Kalamazoo Valley CC on April 7th, before heading to play Grand Rapids CC on April 9th.
MONARCHS SPLIT WITH GLEN OAKS
The Macomb Community College baseball team hit the road this weekend for two games against Glen Oaks. The Monarchs won the first game 8-0, before falling in the nightcap 14-2.
The Monarch bats were alive in the first game scoring eight runs, while James Kyewski gave up two hits over 5.1 innings to pick up his second win of the season. Macomb scored four runs in the top of the third to take a lead they would not relinquish. Ryan Bourcier went 3-3 with a RBI and a run. Vince Lauro was 2-3 with a RBI.
The nightcap did not go as well for Macomb, losing 14-2. The Monarchs struggled the whole game, giving up six runs in the bottom of the second, and eight more in the bottom of the fourth. Andrew Grabowski went 1-3 with two RBI for Macomb.
Macomb’s next game is on April 5th at 3 pm hosting Delta CC at the Sports & Expo Center.
MONARCHS START CONFERENCE PLAY STRONG
Macomb Community College men’s baseball team started the home conference slate strong with three wins. The Monarchs swept Henry Ford on the home opener on Wednesday, with scores of 8-1 and 11-2. The next day they split with Mott losing the first game 7-3, before rebounding to win the second 6-4.
Michael Clutterbuck opened the conference season throwing a complete game one-hitter against the Hawks. Stuart Eisler had two hits in the first game, including a towering solo home run. Taylor Turczyn started the second game and also threw a gem, giving up four hits and one earned run over five innings, while picking up the win. Justin Zyvon had two hits and two walks, including a RBI and two runs.
The next day, the Monarchs got off to a fast start against the visiting Bears scoring two runs in the first inning. The Monarchs struggled defensively however with five errors for the game leading to the defeat. The second game was a different story, as strong pitching from Robert Walter and clutch hitting from Andy Orr lead Macomb to the split. Walter got the win, with a quality start giving up three runs over six innings. Orr had two hits and three RBI.
MACOMB SPLITS WEEKEND SERIES IN OHIO
Macomb Community College men’s baseball team split a four game weekend series against Miami University Hamilton. They lost both games on Saturday with scores of 8-6 and 6-0, before rebounding to win both games on Sunday, 3-2 and 7-4.
Macomb struggled defensively on Saturday, committing seven errors for the two games. Andy Orr had two hits on Saturday, including a RBI and a run. Stuart Eisler contributed with two runs and a RBI. Adam Paulk started the first game, giving up two earned runs over 4 1/3 innings. Robert Walter started the nightcap giving up five earned runs over 4 2/3 innings.
The Monarchs rebounded to win both games on Sunday behind good pitching and timely hitting. They only had three hits in the first game, but managed to score three runs. James Kyewski started the first game giving up two runs over five innings and picking up the win. Daniel Saier pitched a hitless sixth and seventh to pick up his second save of the year. Macomb had 13 hits, including two each from Ryan Bourcier and Vince Lauro. Joel Lange started, but struggled with control giving up seven walks, but only one earned runs over 2 2/3 innings. Saier pitched a scoreless seventh to pick up his second save of the day.
Macomb’s next game is the home opener on Thursday, March 31st at 2 pm at the Sports & Expo Center.
MACOMB SPLITS WITH SINCLAIR
Macomb Community College men’s baseball team split a double-header at Sinclair CC in Dayton, Ohio, losing the first game 8-2, before rebounding to win the second game 4-0.
The first game was close going into the bottom of the sixth inning, before the Monarchs gave up five runs. Andy Orr had three hits for the game, including his first home run of the season. Nathan Hammer chipped in with a hit and an RBI in the game. Michael Clutterbuck received the loss, after pitching 5 2/3 innings and giving up three earned runs.
The Monarchs rebounded in the second game behind strong pitching from Tommy Moore. Moore gave up three hits and no runs over 6 1/3 innings to receive his first win as a Monarch. Justin Zyvon scored two runs for Macomb, while Stuart Eisler knocked in his first run as Monarch.
Macomb next plays on Thursday, March 24th at 1 pm at Rochester College.
MONARCHS LOOK TO BUILD OFF FLORIDA TRIP
The Macomb Community College baseball team used their spring break to head to Florida for 11 games in the sun. The team may have come back with one win, but there are a lot of positives brought back from the trip.
The trip started with three games at St. Thomas University in Miami, before heading to Ocala for two games against Central Florida CC. The Monarchs were in all five of these games despite losing all of them. The team then traveled to St. Augustine, to play St. John’s River CC, and then traveled to Babson Park for two games against Webber International University. The Monarchs lone win was against Webber, with a commanding 12-3 victory in the second game of a double header. They finished the trip with a game at Seminole State College and two games at Pasco-Hernando CC in New Port Richey.
Andrew Grabowski finished the trip hitting .357, with one home run and six runs batted in, while also leading the team with eight walks. Nick Tomilenko hit .310 on the trip while leading the team with six runs. Joel Lange got the lone win on the trip, pitching three innings, giving up three runs, while recording three strike outs for the game. Tommy Moore pitched strong over two games over the trip, recording a 3.38 ERA and 10 strike outs over eight innings. Ray Peralta pitched well over five innings with a 1.80 ERA.
Macomb comes home to rest a few days before playing Sinclair CC on March 22nd at 3 pm in Dayton, OH.

MACOMB HIRES NEW BASEBALL COACH
On Friday, May 28, 2010, Macomb was glad to announce the hire of Joe Santilli as the new Head Baseball Coach. Santilli has over ten years of coaching experience. His most recent Head Coaching position was with the Henry Ford Community College Hawks
from May 2007-December 2009. Santilli posted a 27-33 overall record as the Head Baseball Coach. He also has an extensive background as the lead assistant dating back to the mid 90’s. He coached at Saint Mary’s College of Ave Maria University, The Eastside Teamsports Federation Baseball Program and Dakota High School just to name a few. Joe is a graduate of Clintondale High School and attended Macomb Community College. He completed his four-year degree in Social Work from Central Michigan University. Santilli is also the Franchise Business owner of Triple Crown Sports. Triple Crown Sports administers instruction to world class athletes and produces a number of elite travel baseball tournaments. His entire work experience has been geared around helping, mentoring and developing people.
