Vazquez Concludes Season With No-Hitter
Macomb's baseball season ended on a positive note this past Saturday. Freshman Reinaldo Vazquez, starting his first game of the year, pitched a no-hitter against the Mott Bears. The Monarchs won the game 1-0. Vazquez had a perfect game, before walking a batter in the 5th inning. The no-hitter is the 11th in Monarch history and the first since 1989.
The win moved the Monarchs to 15-15 in the conference and 23-26 overall. Macomb finished 6th overall in the MCCAA standings. Only the top five teams make the Region XII Tournament.
On the season, sophomore Frank Persichino led the Monarchs with a .381 batting average, which included 22 runs batted in. Freshman Jason Hansen led Macomb with 5 victories on the mound and 43 strikeouts.
