Vazquez Concludes Season With No-Hitter

Macomb's baseball season ended on a positive note this past Saturday.  Freshman Reinaldo Vazquez, starting his first game of the year, pitched a no-hitter against the Mott Bears.  The Monarchs won the game 1-0.  Vazquez had a perfect game, before walking a batter in the 5th inning.  The no-hitter is the 11th in Monarch history and the first since 1989.

The win moved the Monarchs to 15-15 in the conference and 23-26 overall.  Macomb finished 6th overall in the MCCAA standings.  Only the top five teams make the Region XII Tournament.

On the season, sophomore Frank Persichino led the Monarchs with a .381 batting average, which included 22 runs batted in.  Freshman Jason Hansen led Macomb with 5 victories on the mound and 43 strikeouts.
