Das Campbell- Assistant Coach

Das Campbell enters his 42nd year of coaching and his 18th at Macomb Community College.  Campbell began coaching at Macomb in the 1992-93 seasons.  A retired High School Math teacher, Campbell’s extensive knowledge as a track coach and athlete has prepared numerous high school and collegiate athletes to compete on the interscholastic, intercollegiate and national track circuit.  

Campbell’s tireless effort with Head Coach Kim Renas has Macomb’s Track team in constant contention for National Championships as well as producing World-Class All-American athletes.  Daswell’s coaching experience spans over four decades.  He coached Cross-country for 38 years and was the Varsity Track Coach for 18 years at Fitzgerald High School.  In between that time he gave his knowledge to Grosse Pointe North High School for a year as the Varsity Track Coach.  During his tenure as the a high school coach, he won League Coach of the Year 14 times, and holds the distinguished title of being named to the Hazel Park High School Athletic Hall-of-Fame as well as the Macomb County Coaches Hall-of-Fame.  His experience allowed him to work each position with the passion of an athlete moreover, increasing his coaching comprehension! 

Campbell was an excellent athlete on the high school and college levels.  He lettered in football for fours years and was an All-State.  Das was a member of the basketball team and lettered 4 years in Track gaining First Team All-State honors.  Campbell then excelled on the collegiate level as a member of the Michigan State Track team.  During his four year career, he was named a co-captain for two seasons as well as receiving the honor of being an All-American athlete in the NCAA.  At Michigan State Campbell earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1967 and at Wayne State he earned his Masters of Sports Administration in 1997.  Campbell and his wife of thirty-six years, Carol Campbell raised their two children Darrell and Christiane.
