Bill Hoover

Bill Hoover has been with the Men's Basketball team for eight seasons and will assist with summer camps and basketball operations. Hoover has been involved in various programs, including 20 seasons of basketball within a nine-year period. His collegiate coaching experience includes stints here at Macomb and Oakland Community College. He has also coached girls' junior varsity at Grosse Pointe North, boys' middle school at Detroit Barbour, and assisted boys' varsity at Detroit East Catholic.

Hoover has also volunteered his time with the girl's varsity team at Grosse Pointe North and boys' varsity team at Detroit Kettering. In addition, Hoover also spent three years running a summer league program with Detroit Eastern that participated in two Detroit Recreation Center Leagues.

Hoover earned his Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Education from Michigan State University in 1991 and earned his Master's Degree in Sports Administration from Wayne State University in 1997.

Hoover currently is a physical education and reading teacher at Butzel Middle School, where he has been the past ten years. He is a 16-year veteran of the Detroit Public Schools, where he has taught mathematics, science, and health at Barbour Magnet Middle School. In addition to his teaching career, Hoover currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Motor City Youth Initiative and is the Midwest Coordinator for the Black Legends of Professional Basketball.

Hoover and wife Amy of 12 years, have three children, Olivia (9), Billy III (7) and Brooke (3).
