Macomb Community College encourages students who are near to completing their graduation requirements to do so. In addition, the College strives to provide an efficient registration system that allows students to successfully register for classes during published registration times. In order to achieve these two objectives, the College follows a priority registration procedure which allows students to register in the following order:
-
Students who have earned a minimum of 30 semester credits at Macomb, not including courses in which they are currently enrolled, and who have been enrolled within the previous 24 months, shall be allowed to register on the first day of open registration.
-
Students who have earned a minimum of 10 semester credits, not including courses in which they are currently enrolled, and who have been enrolled with the previous 24 months, shall be allowed to register on the second day of open registration.
-
New students and students who have earned fewer than 10 semester credits, regardless of how recently they have been enrolled, shall be allowed to register on the third day of open registration.

Given the unique nature of the cohort program in nursing, and the need to help reduce the impact of nursing students on the registration system, nursing students may be allowed to register for their fall and winter classes on days prior to or following open registration, as approved by the Vice Provost for Career Programs. These days shall be published in the College’s registration calendar.
Implementation of this policy, including its promotion, technology support, and related guidelines, shall be the joint responsibility of the Learning Unit, Student and Community Relations, Student Success Services, and Information Technology.
