With the Macomb Children’s Chorus ready to take the stage at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts (MCPA) April 29, State Senator Tory Rocca joined AT&T Michigan, as they presented a $5,000 contribution to Macomb Community College President Jim Jacobs in support of the college’s youth choral programs. The MCPA is a community enrichment program of Macomb Community College, dedicated to providing a diverse range of family-oriented cultural enrichment.

“As part of  our three-strand mission of education, enrichment and economic development, Macomb Community College is committed to providing meaningful arts education programs to engage the youth of our community,” said Jacobs.  “We appreciate AT&T’s support in this important work of connecting arts and education.”

“AT&T has made assisting in high school graduation, mentoring and preparation for college for all students a top priority, and without a doubt, cultural programming and the work of Macomb Community College is a wonderful partner in that,” said Jim Murray, president of AT&T Michigan.  “We are proud to work with Macomb Community College in this effort and look forward to seeing the benefits for the students who participate.”

The Macomb Children’s Chorus is comprised of three choirs, involving those in Grades 2 through 9.   The MCPA also offers two show choir programs for gifted and talented students:  the Magic Company for those in high school and the Garfield Singers for junior high students.  Each January, a Junior High Workshop is offered, providing local school groups exposure to professional choreographers and vocal coaches in a two-day intensive workshop experience.

“Macomb Community College is a leader in our community, every day offering programming that helps to educate and prepare our local students,” State Senator Tory Rocca said.  “Bringing that work together with support from great corporate partners like AT&T is a benefit to our entire community and especially the students who are able to participate.”
