Fluid Power Technology Program

Fluid power is an important enabling technology for mechanical, agricultural and aerospace engineering. - Kim Stelson, University of Minnesota Professor and Director of the Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power

What is Fluid Power Technology?

Fluid power makes things move by transmitting energy through the circulation of pressurized fluid. While hydraulics involves the transmission of power through pressurized liquid, pneumatics involves the use of pressurized gas. Fluid power technicians are skilled to work in both hydraulics and pneumatics, with responsibilities that may include researching, designing, fabricating, operating, testing and servicing fluid power systems.
