Revamped college website and new student portal designed to increase access and usability of college online resources and information

Macomb Community College has launched a new website (www.macomb.edu) as well as a new portal for current students. The new site improves usability of the college’s online resources, enhances navigation and streamlines access to information.

“Development of Macomb’s new website began nearly two years ago and included input from college stakeholders, such as prospective students, high school counselors and community leaders,” said Casandra Ulbrich, vice president for College Advancement and Community Relations, Macomb Community College. “Data was collected through focus groups, surveys and by benchmarking best practices. The amount of work that has gone into this site, and the student portal, is a true reflection of the college’s commitment to providing a high-quality experience for the communities we serve.”

Some key features of the new website include special sections designed for the needs of specific audiences such as parents, an updated site search function and an expanded calendar of events with enhanced search function as well as event notification feature. A Live Chat feature available between
9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday will be introduced in upcoming weeks to provide site visitors with immediate responses to questions.

The new student portal, My Macomb (my.macomb.edu), offers current students one-stop access to the college’s online resources, serving as their gateway to online coursework and academic records. Students from Macomb’s honor society, Phi Theta Kappa, provided input by participating in usability studies as the portal was designed.
