Compliments to the Chef: Macomb Community College Culinary Arts student earns Student of the Year Award

James Delao, Sterling Heights, a student at the Macomb Culinary Institute at Macomb Community College, received the Student of the Year Award at the recent Michigan Chefs de Cuisine Association’s Chef of the Year event. This year marked the first time students had to compete in a cooking competition to earn the honor.
Delao competed against culinary arts students from Oakland Community College, Schoolcraft College, Washtenaw Community College, Henry Ford Community College, The Art Institute of Novi and Dorsey Culinary Academy. Industry professionals judged the students on kitchen sanitation, organization, taste and plate presentation.
