Macomb Community College has been selected as one of the leading community colleges in the Digital Community Colleges Survey for offering “exceptional technology support” to students and educators. This is the fourth time Macomb has placed in the top 10 in the nation in the survey in the “large college” category.
The survey, conducted by e.Republic’s Center for Digital Education and Converge magazine, addressed multiple areas in digital technology, including online registration, distance learning, tutoring and advisory services; technology training for students and faculty; and Web 2.0 social and collaborative capabilities.
“While we certainly appreciate receiving outside accolades, our primary focus is to provide Macomb’s students with the tools they need to succeed as they work toward their educational and career goals,” said Michael Zimmerman, chief information officer at Macomb.
Marina Leight, vice president of the Center, said, “Community colleges, year after year, impress us as forward thinking and quick to adapt. Our survey results show overwhelmingly that community colleges are fast embracing cyber technologies used by “First Digitals,” fostering collaboration in learning by using tools students are familiar with. Those institutions chosen as this year’s top community colleges are exceptional examples of this investment in learning.”
Macomb was one of only two community colleges in the state to be included in a top 10 list. Kirtland Community College in Roscommon was among the top 10 in the “small college” category.
The Center for Digital Education is a national research and advisory institute providing education and industry leaders with decision support, research and educational services to help them effectively incorporate new technologies in the 21st century.
