With an AARP survey finding that 79 percent of baby boomers expect to work in some capacity during their retirement, Macomb Community College's Center for Continuing Education and AARP Michigan are hosting a free informational forum, A New Age of Possibility and Purpose, to provide an overview of opportunities available both for employees and employers.
The forum will be held on Friday, Sept. 14, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Macomb University Center, located on Macomb's Center Campus, Hall and Garfield roads, Clinton Township. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
The forum will include workshops on retraining, job hunting, the interview process and entrepreneurship. Attendees will have the opportunity to consult with representatives from Macomb, AARP, Michigan Works!, Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center and the Michigan Community Service Commission. Employers interested in hiring those 50+ will also be on hand to answer questions and accept completed employment applications from forum attendees.
