Four Finalists in Macomb Community College Presidential Search Referred to Board of Trustees for Interviews

On behalf of the Macomb Community College Board of Trustees, the 16-member Presidential Search Committee, headed by Macomb Board Chair Nancy Falcone Sullivan, has referred four candidates to be interviewed by the Board of Trustees in search of a replacement for retiring Macomb Community College President Albert L. Lorenzo.

The finalists are Rose B. Bellanca, Ed.D., President, St. Clair County Community College, Port Huron, Mich.; Gena Glickman, Ph.D., Vice President, Teaching, Learning and Student Development, Elgin Community College, Elgin, Ill.; James Jacobs, Ph.D., Director, Macomb Community College Center for Workforce Development and Policy, Warren, Mich., and Associate Director, Community College Operations, Community College Research Center, Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, N.Y.; Laurence D. Spraggs, D.A., President, Broome Community College, Binghamton, N.Y.

Forums with the candidates are being planned and will be open to the public. Details of the forums will be announced when finalized.

The finalists were selected from a larger group of candidates interviewed by the Presidential Search Committee. Representatives from Macomb's Board of Trustees, employee groups and student body as well as representatives from the educational community, healthcare Industry, workforce development and industrial communities served on the committee. David Pierce, Association of Community College Trustees, is assisting in the search process.
