Law Enforcement
Thinking of becoming a Police Officer? Learn from professional law enforcement practitioners who will give you the opportunity to experience what it's like. Participants will take the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (M.C.O.L.E.S.) and the pre-employment physical agility test. Must be 16 years old for this academy. Admission Criteria:
- Successful applicants will be notified by mail of their acceptance into the program. Cost includes all supplies and related materials.

Culinary/Pastry Arts
Spice it up! Students have the opportunity to cook side-by-side with professional chefs. Through the award-winning program at Macomb, students will learn about different types of food service establishments and learn what types of jobs are available. Both hot food kitchen and bakeries will be the focus of this week-long learning experience.

Fire Service
Learn from professional fire service practitioners what it's like to be a fire fighter in today's society. Through Macomb's innovative one-week Fire Service Career Academy, high school students have the opportunity to experience the fire academy first hand. Students will also have the opportunity to take the Macomb Fire and Emergency Services physical agility test. Must be 16 years old for this academy.

Media/Communication Arts
Looking for a career in advertising, web page design, photography & digital imaging, digital design & layout, digital video production, or digital art & animation? This may be the academy for you. The Media and Communication Arts (MACA) program offers a graphic arts curriculum, second to none, with state-of-the-art equipment, and the most current versions of a large variety of graphic arts software such as; Nikon C5000 Digital Cameras, Macintosh G5 computers, AGFA Duoscan T1200 scanners, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and QuarkXpress, and Autodesk MAYA. Explore the graphic arts industry. Be creative or just have fun with digital cameras and computers.

Robotics
Build your own robot. Macomb's team of instructors will take you through the entire process of designing, constructing, and debugging a robot. Students will receive hands-on experience, as well as exposure to lectures and demonstrations on topics related to building a robot.

IT Gaming
This academy is about learning how to created games, not play games. Students must be 15 years or older, need a solid math background, and must have taken a computer course. This year's theme is "Recreating the Classics," which will allow students to learn how to put a modern spin on some of the all-time great video games. Students will learn the skills required for a career in the I.T. gaming field.

Biotechnology is a career area that is growing at a tremendous rate, and provides several job opportunities. If you are a person that is interested in the sciences and all of their applications, this is the academy for you. Hybrid Electric Vehicles (NEW)
This new academy is a perfect hands-on learning experience for students interested in cars and electronics! This interactive workshop explains the principles of battery electric and other alternative vehicles. Other topics include reasons to use electric vehicles (EVs), EV safety, battery technologies and motor types. Each student will build a battery, a DC motor kit and a fuel cell vehicle. This workshop is for students ages 14 and up.
