Networking facilitates communications between people, computers, and various technology devices. Networking students may specialize in three degree areas – Networking Administration Professional, Cisco Network Professional and Network Security Professional.
1. Network Administrators design, install, and maintain computer hardware and software that comprise a computer network. Network software controls the functions of the network hardware. Network software manages the routing of electronic messages and it controls the authentication and access authorizations of people and hardware who attempt to share in the data and messages that traverse the computer network.
2. Computer Security and Information Assurance are computer related specialties that focus on the skills needed to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data. This Network Security Professional specialty focuses on eliminating computer network vulnerability threats. Information Assurance includes Computer Security topics and extends the focus to include security risk management, criminology, and forensic science.

3. The Cisco Network Professional focuses on the Cisco Networking Academy, wired and wireless networking technologies, network security, and troubleshooting techniques necessary to enter the Networking industry as a Cisco professional.
