Michigan Child Day Care Licensing Requirements

 

Effective December 2007, all lead teachers in preschool and child care centers must have 12 credit hours in early childhood as required by the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services.  All program directors must have a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood and must include a program management course. Infant and toddler teachers must include a course on infants and toddlers.  These credit hours are also required of those who are entering the profession with an existing associate's or baccalaureate degree in an unrelated subject.
