REQUIREMENTS

Requirements for Clinical Placements

Prior to beginning the first clinical course (CLTA-1000) students need to be aware of the following requirements:

Health Requirements:

  • Complete history and physical exam by a licensed physician
  • Immunizations and titers to determine immunity to communicable diseases
  • Hepatitis vaccine
  • TB test or Chest X-ray
  • A negative 5-panel drug scree
  • CPR Certification

It is highly recommended that students learn CPR. Certification may be obtained by taking PHED-2070.

Transportation, Uniforms, and Supplies:

Because a variety of health-care agencies are utilized for clinical practice, transportation to and from the clinical agency is the responsibility of the student. Students are expected to also wear a wrist watch and closed toe shoes and while on clinicals, a lab coat.

Health Insurance:

The College and clinical sites requires that students have hospitalization insurance, as neither the site nor the College insures the student against accidents or illness, even if it occurs as a result of, or while working with, a patient. Proof of health insurance is required at all times.

Criminal Background Check:

Many of the clinical agencies that Macomb Community College contracts with require a criminal background check for all CLT students at their facilities. Criminal background checks are conducted routinely for admission to the program. Clinical placements may be denied to students who have been convicted of a crime and will result in the inability to complete the program. Therefore, all students are required to undergo a criminal background check at no cost to the student.
