Upon completion of the common core courses students will be able to apply common business vocabulary as used in local and international business operations, apply the steps in the management process, and demonstrate knowledge of marketing strategy for profit and not-for-profit organizations. In addition, the students will demonstrate an understanding of key financial statements, possess basic skills to use standard business applications software, have experience in functioning as a member of a team, and possess knowledge of the elements of contracts, personal property, bailments and sales. Students will also gain experience in delivering oral presentations, preparing written business reports, letters, resumes, as well as other common forms of business communications.

  • An additional 12 semester hours must be selected from courses with the following alpha codes: ACCT, BUSN, CRFN, MGMT, MKTG, BCOM, ITBS, ITCS, ITIA, ITNC, ITNT, ITWP
  • Electives - Electives of 7-8 semester credit hours further enable students to customize a program suited to their educational needs.
  • Transferability - The General Business program is compatible with many bachelor's degree programs offered through local colleges and universities. If you are planning to transfer credits earned at Macomb, you should see a member of the Counseling department as early as possible in your college career.

Two Program Options

  • Certificate - A group of ten to eleven classes consisting of seven common core courses and 12 semester college credit hours selected from Business Administration and Information Technology . Thirty-six to thirty-seven semester college credits are included.
