University of Detroit Mercy & College of Engineering Graduation Requirements:
UNIVERSITY CORE:
All graduates from The University of Detroit Mercy will be expected to satisfy the University Core Curriculum. There are six objectives in the core to be satisfied. These are:
- Objective One: Communication Skills - Writing & Speech 6 credits
- Objective Two: Mathematical and Computer Skills - 6 credits
- Objective Three: Scientific Literacy - 9 credits
- Objective Four: Meaning and Value - 9 credits
- Objective Five: Diverse Human Experience - 12 credits
- Objective Six: Social Responsibility - 6 credits
ENGINEERING CORE:
In addition to the University Core Curriculum, students seeking this bachelor's degree will also complete an Engineering Core Curriculum common to all Engineering majors offered at the University of Detroit Mercy, including the major in Manufacturing Engineering. There is also a 12-month cooperative education requirement, which provides hands on experience in an approved industrial setting.
ELECTIVES -Flexibility and Focus:
Students are permitted a choice of technical concentrations which allow the flexibility to focus their program on the areas of greatest interest, and to strengthen their job seeking position and career potential.
The technical electives are selected from upper level courses in engineering, science, and mathematics and must be approved by the department. Free electives may be selected from any of the University's offerings above the 100-level.
