To earn a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Community Development from Central Michigan University you should complete at least 62 credit hours at Macomb Community College and earn an applicable associate's degree. Transfer students are advantaged by fulfilling requirements for the MACRAO Transfer Agreement and having their community college transcript certified for satisfaction of this agreement. The minimum number of credits required to complete this baccalaureate degree is 124 semester hours. The University has prepared a planned program guide for your intended degree and major. In order to earn a baccalaureate degree from Central Michigan University, students must satisfy the following requirements.

Central Michigan University has established graduation requirements applicable to all candidates for a CMU baccalaureate degree. In order to earn a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University, students must satisfy the following requirements:

  1. General Education: Fulfill the general education requirements of the University, including the four University Program groups, and competency requirements. Students must earn a minimum 2.00 in University Program courses in order to graduate. Transfer students may use the MACRAO Transfer agreement to satisfy general education.

  2. Competency Requirements: CMU expects it's graduates to be competent in written English, Oral English, and mathematics. Students may satisfy these competencies by examination or by taking specific courses designated to fulfill the requirement. There are specific Macomb Community College Courses which have been designated to satisfy CMU competencies. See program plans which have been provided by CMU for more detail.

  3. Major/ Minor Requirements and Electives: Complete requirements for the major in Community Development and an approved minor. The number of electives will vary depending on the requirements for the major and the minor. No more than 8 hours of electives taken from the same department as the student's major field will count toward graduation requirements. It is important to note that the combination of some majors and minors may require more than 124 hours for graduation.

  4. Credits from the College of Business Administration: No more than 27 hours may be taken from the College of Business Administration. These hours include both credits earned at CMU and transfer credits from Macomb or other colleges and universities.
