ORIENTATION AND COURSE PLANNING SESSIONS

 

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION INFORMATION

The new student orientation is designed to provide you with information to help you succeed as a new student.  The orientation will prepare you for your first semester at Macomb Community College by:

  • introducing you to the college
  • sharing new terminology
  • discussing your Student Right & Responsibilities
  • helping you understand your placement testing scores
  • getting you acquainted with the course selection and registration process
  • identifying services available to support your success

You may complete the new student orientation in one of two ways: 

Option 1 - Online Orientation:  This self paced orientation and can be completed from any computer with an internet connection and will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete.

To be eligible for online orientation you must have:

  • submitted an application for admission to Macomb Community College
  • completed placement testing
  • achieved a minimum reading score
  • 60 or higher on COMPASS reading
  • 38 or higher on ASSET reading

After completing the online orientation, you must meet with an academic advisor or counselor to plan your first semester courses.  A copy of the scheduled meeting times is available below.

Option 2 - On-Ground Orientation:  This guided orientation is delivered in a group setting and will take approximately 2 ½ hours to complete.  After completing the group orientation each student in attendance will meet with an academic advisor or counselor to plan their first semester courses.
