NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION INFORMATION
The new student orientation is a program designed specifically for new students as an official welcome to Macomb. This program will improve your awareness and increase your readiness for your first semester at Macomb.
The orientation program consists of two key sessions: the information session and the course planning session.
Learning Objectives of the Information Session:
-
Discuss expectations (What can you expect? What does Macomb expect?).
-
Introduce programs & services available to support your success at Macomb.
- Share skills used by successful students (i.e.: time management & schedule building strategies).
-
Develop the skill to successfully register each semester.
-
Increase your understanding of your placement test scores.
Learning Objectives of the Course Planning Session
-
Discuss your goals at Macomb.
-
Recommend courses for your first semester based on your goals, scheduling needs, and placement test scores (COMPASS scores).
-
Provide direction for future course planning, career planning, and/or referral for other college resources.
You have two options to complete your orientation. The major differences between the two options is in the delivery method and in the placement testing reading score requirement.
