How does Informational Interviewing help me?
Informational Interviews give you the chance to ask employers in your desired career field questions about every day work experiences and how to get your foot in the door. Informational Interviews are a great way to network in your career field.
What are the benefits of Internships and Cooperative Education?
Internships and Cooperative Education provide students with an opportunity to apply their classroom learning in the work place. Students gain confidence in their career choice and in their abilities developing students into future employees.
Are Career Experience Opportunities paid?
Internship and Cooperative Education positions may be paid or unpaid and salary will be determined by the employer. All other opportunities are unpaid.
Does the employer normally pay for transportation, housing and medical insurance?
No. Typically these expenses are not paid for by Career Experience employers.
Are students guaranteed a Career Experience opportunity?
No. We promise to work hard to provide opportunities to our students.
As an Intern or Co-Op student, what Career Experience course do I register for in conjunction with my regular schedule?
All Internship and Cooperative Education students must register for CRER 2100 - Part-Time Internship, 0 credit hours (14 - 29 hours per week) or CRER 2200 - Full-time, 0 credit hours (30 or more hours per week). Students may also register for the optional Internship Seminar CRER 2510 - 1 credit hour.
Will I remain a full-time student while participating in an Internship or Cooperative Education opportunity?
Yes. When registered for CRER 2100 and 6 additional credit hours or when registered for CRER 2200.
What are my responsibilities as a student in the Internship and Cooperative Education program?
You will be expected to register in the Career Services database - MacombCareerLink, register for the Career Experience course CRER 2100 or CRER 2200, and complete end of term evaluations. Be sure to also invite your Internship Coordinator out for a visit during your work term.
