Macomb Community College provides you with a wide range of opportunities to enhance your career goals.  Career Experience is designed to provide maximum exposure in the field you are studying while integrating classroom experience. Participating in Career Experience programs provides you with a definite advantage while pursuing your career goal.

All Career Experience Programs require students to set-up an account in MacombCareerLink and upload a resume.

CAREER EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITIES

Internships and Cooperative Education - This experience serves as a vital link with the business and civic community and allows you to practice career skills in an environment difficult to duplicate in a college laboratory setting. Internship and Cooperative Education opportunities also provide on the job experience to develop technical and interpersonal skills critical to successful employment.  Positions may be paid or unpaid and are either full-time (30 to 40 hours a week) or part-time (14 to 29 hours per week). Internship and Cooperative Education experiences are available on either an alternating  (work one semester, attend class the next) or parallel (work while attending class) schedule.

Career Mentoring - This is a career enhancement opportunity that provides students with information regarding their area of study and career field.  An employer or alumni representatives will assist you in making career choices as a telephone or email resource for career related questions. Career Mentoring benefits you by providing information regarding your area of study and career field.

Job Shadowing - This is a career exploration option allowing you to learn about jobs by walking through the workday as a shadow to a competent worker.  The Job Shadowing experience is a temporary, unpaid exposure to the workplace in a career area of interest. You witness first hand the work environment, the value of professional training and potential career options.

Informational Interviewing - Provides the option to speak with a professional in your field of study and learn about their career path and steps you need to take to achieve your career goals.
