Teresa Biegun, Electronic Information Services Librarian biegunt@macomb.edu, (586) 286-2233 Teresa has a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in information and library studies from the University of Michigan. She has been at Macomb since 1996, and was previously Business Reference Librarian at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. As Electronic Information Services Librarian, Teresa stays apprised of available electronic information resources, communicates with vendors to review/assess products and makes recommendations regarding our online resources. Teresa is interested in how library technologies can improve student learning and how we can most effectively assess whether or not library resources and services are positively impacting student success and achievement. |

Phyllis Hills, Information & Instructional Services Librarian hillsp@macomb.edu, (586) 445-7431 Phyllis Hills has a BA in History and a MS in Librarianship from Western Michigan University. She also has a teaching certificate from the University of Detroit Mercy. She has worked in every type of library: public, special, school and university and worked in every division from cataloging to circulation to reference. Beginning in 2010 as Macomb Community College Information & Instructional Services Librarian, her job is to assist students not only in the various methods of acquiring trustworthy information but to insure that students obtain the necessary critical thinking skills to use information beyond their academic needs. |

Mary Kickham-Samy, Electronic Systems/Services Librarian kickham-samym@macomb.edu, (586) 445-7419 After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1973, Mary traveled to Egypt to teach and study at the American University in Cairo. Mary received her master’s in Teaching English as a Foreign Language in 1975, and then, for the next 25 years lived and worked in Egypt. In 1998, Mary relocated to the United States, where she received her master’s degree in Library and Information Science (2000) from Wayne State University. Mary is currently working on her doctoral dissertation in instructional design and technology at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. Mary’s main interest is in teaching students research methods through traditional classroom instruction or via online chat reference technology. |

Steve Rybicki, Public Services Librarian rybickis@macomb.edu, (586) 286-2056 Steve pursued his library degree from the University of Michigan, with a BA from the University of Detroit Mercy , and an M Ed from Marygrove College. He honed his reference skills at Detroit Public Library, and here at Macomb. He enjoys his family, writing, and photography, and has been published in both. He likes the continuous learning aspect of librarianship and community college life. |

Cassie Spieles, Collections & Resources Librarian spielesc@macomb.edu, (586) 445-7778 Cassie Spieles earned her doctorate in Systematic Theology in 2008. She also holds degrees in English and Academic Library Science. Cassie has worked at the library for 15 years and maintains all print and media collections for both campuses. She oversees purchases and encourages faculty to contact her with requests. In addition, she resolves cataloging issues, assists with accreditation resources, and is MMII co-coordinator. |
