INSTRUCTORS

 

Mary Alstead, BS, RRT, NPS, CPFT-  The Program Director for Macomb's Respiratory Therapy Program is the former Director of Pulmonary and Neurology Services at Mount Clemens General Hospital. She also has six years experience in critical care and clinical education from Providence Hospital. At Children's Hospital she worked for nine years in pediatric and neonatal respiratory care. The director has a bachelor's degree from Oakland University and is a graduate from the Macomb Respiratory Therapy Program.

Rick Zahodnic, PhD, RRT-NPS, RPFT, AE-C- The Director of Clinical Education has a bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree from Wayne State University and is an alumnus of the Macomb's Respiratory Therapy Program. He comes to Macomb from Oakland Community College where he held a similar position. His experience includes six years as a representative in the medical industry, five years as Manager of Respiratory Therapy at Bon Secours Hospital in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and five years as Education Coordinator at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan.

Adjunct Faculty

During clinical internships, instruction will come from several experienced respiratory therapists. You will accompany these highly dedicated and experienced professionals on their day-to-day rounds and learn first-hand what it means to be a respiratory therapist.
