SUBSTITUTE TEACHER PREPARATION

Substitute Teacher Preparation

Macomb offers a non-degree, non-credit class for those who are interested in becoming a substitute teacher. The State of Michigan allows persons with 90 college credit hours, either completed at, or transferred to an accredited four-year college or university, to qualify as a substitute teacher, subject to individual school district requirements.

Macomb’s “Substitute Teacher Preparation” class provides an introduction to K-12 teaching techniques, instructional planning and delivery, and classroom management methods.

While geared toward those wishing to be substitute teachers, this class is also beneficial to those seeking a possible career in educational settings.
