Dress Code Uniform

  • Chef Coat – clean (white only, no colors or piping), pressed, white button, embroidered
  • Chef Pants – clean, pressed, hemmed checked pants
  • Chef Hat – six inch paper chef’s hat, unstained, unwrinkled,
    • available only at Macomb Community College bookstore
    • No ball caps, ski caps, etc. allowed in lecture or lab class.
  • Shoes – clean, black, polished leather/vinyl (non-skid soles recommended)
    • No tennis shoes
  • Apron – clean, unstained, pressed white
  • Side Towel – white
  • Neckerchief – white neckerchief to be worn in A la Carte, Garde Manger and International Kitchen classes

Personal Appearance

  • Hygiene – All hygiene should conform to Macomb County Health Department standards.
  • Shaving – Clean shaven daily
  • Nail Polish – Nail polish is prohibited in kitchen lab classes.  Clear, pastel nail polish in good condition is allowed in dining room lab classes.

Jewelry/Piercings

  • Students in kitchen lab classes must remove all visible jewelry (including wristwatches) and piercings.  A single, smooth wedding band may be worn.
  • Students in dining room lab classes may wear a wristwatch, wedding ring/band and one pair of stud earrings.
