MARPOSS
Thanks to Marposs we have the ability to probe parts on our CNC machines. Probes offer two benefits: 1) the ability to identify the part’s origin and rotation angle—in lieu of edge finders, and 2) in-line inspection, where parts can be inspected for size and location prior to leaving the machine.
In addition to probing, a laser system (shown on right) is used to measure the height of each tool. This system also checks for tool wear and can be programmed to select a newer tool when it shows wear. The probe and laser help automate the process and ensure speed and accuracy. The operator still needs to know how to run it. This merely reduces the risk.
