CNC PROJECTS

We’ve machined a variety of projects, too many to list. Our focus is to teach students how to program and machine almost anything, with emphasis on three-dimensional parts. This helps prepare our students for employment in job shops utilizing CNC technology.

Below are samples:

Small diameter tools require high RPMs in order to satisfy the feed/speed formulae based on recommended SFM (surface feet/minute). We machined this Macomb coin with a 1/32 end mill using an add-on high speed spindle that plugs into an air compressor to deliver up to 90,000 RPM. It cannot perform a tool change due to the external air hose connection. It costs under- $2000.

The picture below uses a higher end attachment (in the range of $5000) that produces as much as 100,000 RPMs using an electric motor. This unit was provided by NSK and can perform a tool change.
