Lorenzo Cultural Center kicks off National Volunteer Week with appreciation luncheon honoring cultural center volunteers

Release Date:
April 28, 2008

Volunteers of the Lorenzo Cultural Center at Macomb Community College were the guests of honor today at a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon in recognition of their contributions to helping guests get the most out of their visit to Macomb County’s Place for Discovery.  Lorenzo Cultural Center volunteers contribute in a wide variety of ways, from greeting visitors and acclimating them to the facility to helping with tours, demonstrations and hands-on activities.

“Thank you for your part in making the cultural center everything we hoped it would be,” said Macomb Community College President Albert Lorenzo, for whom the center is named.  “We built this cultural center with the community in mind, and you are living out the vision of what we hoped to accomplish.”

Additional opportunities for volunteers are available at the Lorenzo Cultural Center.  Requirements for volunteers include a friendly smile and the ability to communicate effectively with cultural center visitors, who range from school-age children to seniors.  Volunteer assignments are tailored to suit the availability, interests and talents of each individual volunteer.  For information, contact Gerri Pavone at 586.226.4759 or email pavoneg@macomb.edu.

The Lorenzo Cultural Center (www.lorenzoculturalcenter.com) explores the influences and experiences that shape the community’s heritage, examining topics from a variety of perspectives and creating interactive opportunities for learning, celebration and entertainment.
