Head Coach Joe Cavataio enters his second season at Macomb Community College. Before
accepting the job at Macomb, Cavataio was the Head Softball Coach at Macomb Lutheran North High School in Macomb, Michigan for two seasons.
In Cavataio’s first season with Macomb, he returned the program to its winning ways. Cavataio led the Macomb Softball program to a Region XII Championship and a fifth place finish in the NJCAA National Tournament. He finished the season with a 14-6 conference record and a 28-16 overall record. In addition to his success on the collegiate level, he also has several years coaching at the interscholastic level as well as 12 years of head coaching experience for Travel Softball teams.
Cavataio has an extensive 26 year playing career in competitive softball. In those 26 years, he was 2-time qualifier for the USSSA World Series. Furthermore, he is a current staff member of RighviewPro, a state of the art hitting and pitching video analysis software developed by former major league ball player and the 2006 Detroit Tiger hitting coach, Don Slaught.
Cavataio is a former student at Macomb Community College and in 1992 he became the Owner and CEO of Universal Industries INC. located in Madison Heights Michigan.
He has been married for 27 years to his wife Lorraine Cavataio and they have two daughters Amy
and Ashley. Amy is 25 years of age, recently married and a graduate of Western Michigan University. Ashley is 21 years of age; she graduated from Eisenhower High and is a current student at Macomb.
