Public Service Institute's
Macomb Emergency Services Training Center at East Campus

Macomb’s Emergency Services Training Center provides a comprehensive program of training for individuals and companies responsible for emergency services and

industrial safety functions. Our programs and seminars are developed to meet the training

requirements of OSHA, D.O.T., MIOSHA, NFPA, ISFSI and other regulatory organizations.

East Campus, located at 21901 Dunham Road in Clinton Township, is a 23-acre

complex that includes:

  • A five story training tower with two Live Fire burn rooms, standpipe, sprinklers, industrial hose reels and more
  • A 400 sq. ft. Live Fire burn pad
  • Live Fire burning vehicle and dumpster mock-ups
  • Portable Live Fire extinguisher training on portable device or burn pad
  • Search and Rescue building
  • Confined Space training structures
  • Classroom facilities and special ops rooms

The Live Fire tower utilizes propane for the realistic yet, environmentally clean and safe simulation of fire and industrial emergencies. The safe, clean use of propane allows for rapid turnover of evolutions and maximum amount of fire fighting activity and rotation of personnel in the time allotted.  Computerized sensors require proper cooling application and technique to enhance true-to-life extinguishment experience.  The two burn rooms, located on different floors and with rollover capabilities, provide a wide variety of challenging scenarios.  Use of the tower facilitates training in ladder work, hose handling, streams, victim recovery, ventilation, ax work, rope rescue, search & rescue, and more.

Curriculum is established by an advisory board made up of representatives from business, industry, emergency services and education.
