LAW ENFORCEMENT CAREER ACADEMY

High School Students... are you trying to decide what to do with the rest of your life? Thinking about a career in law enforcement, but aren't sure if that's for you? Then the Criminal Justice Training Center at Macomb Community College can help.

Through Macomb's innovative one week Law Enforcement Career Academy, high school students who have completed their junior year have the opportunity to experience the police academy first hand. Participants will learn from professional law enforcement practitioners what it's like to be a police officer in today's society.

Some of the topics covered include:

  • The role of the police in the criminal justice system
  • Patrol operations
  • Criminal investigations
  • Crime scene investigations and laboratory analysis
  • Subject control
  • Special operations

Participants will have the opportunity to take the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) pre-employment physical fitness test. You'll also have the chance to experience split second decision making in simulated life or death situations with the aid of state of the art computer technology.

At the conclusion of the program, a counselor from the College will be there to help you prepare to make those all important academic decisions that will influence the rest of your life, even if you decide a career in law enforcement is not for you.

Date

The program will run June 16-20, 2008.
